Hydraulic Ram Pumps

The Track No. 5 Hydraulic Water Ram Pump is a highly efficient solution for lifting water using the power of hydraulic energy. It operates without electricity or fuel and requires little maintenance, making it ideal for remote locations and sustainable water systems.

By utilising hydraulic energy—specifically momentum and pressure—the pump moves water from lower to higher elevations with minimal input.

It’s ideal for:

  • Agricultural irrigation
  • Livestock watering
  • Off-grid or small-scale hydro applications
Selecting a Hydraulic ram pump

Hydraulic Ram Pump Selection Chart

Study this diagram and make your own measurements as listed below. Check the measurements against the chart to choose the most suitable pump for your needs.

  1. Litres of water per minute available for supply
  2. Litres of water required at discharge in 24 hours
  3. Vertical Fall (in metres) from the water supply to the pump (a)
  4. Distance from the water supply to the pump (b)
  5. Vertical distance from the pump to the point of discharge (c)
  6. Length of the discharge pipe from the pump (d)
calculations for the Track No. 5 Hydraulic Ram Pump

Calculation Hydraulic Ram Pump

Rule of thumb: 1m head of fall to deliver 6m height requires 9m (11/2 lengths) of drive pipe

  1. Fall required = 1m/6m = 0.167 x m delivery height required (50m) = 8.35m
  2. Drive pipe required = 9m per 1m of fall --> 9m x 8.35m = 74.7m (111/2 lengths)

The pump requires a 50mm ID galvanised drive pipe and a 20mm ID outlet pipe.
