Windmill & Pumps
Track Windmills use wind energy to pump water efficiently from sources such as bores, creeks, or aquifers. As the wind turns the rotor, it powers a mechanical linkage that drives the pump—no electricity or fuel required.
We pair our windmills with robust windmill pumps in 1¾", 2", or 2½" sizes to suit different flow and depth requirements. This setup offers a reliable, low-maintenance solution for water delivery in remote or off-grid locations.
Track Windmill systems are ideal for:
- Rural properties
- Agricultural operations
- Sustainable water extraction in windy regions
Environmentally friendly and cost-effective, these systems are a proven choice where conventional power isn't available or practical.
Specifications
Windmill:
- Galvanised steel frame, supports, blades, tail, rod, and pullout arm
- Cast iron centre wheel, pivot block, link, pulley, and G casting, PA 10 undercoated, finished red
- Bearings: nylon on main shaft, SKF ball racers on pivot block, and eccentric link
- Removable stain pipe assembly with easy access to pivot block bearing, red powder coat finish
Pump:
- L 170 13/4" 1" x 3/4" BSP
- L 176 2" 1" x 1" BSP
- L 174 21/2" 11/4" x 11/4 BSP
- Bronze body with frost plug
- Brass glandless top
- Brass and bronze internals
Things to consider:
- Maximum suction: 7.5m
- Water supply should be sufficient to maintain a constant level in the well when the windmill is running at maximum speed
- Most efficient when pumping into a reservoir then gravity fed
- Plan for days when there is no wind
- The internal pipe size from the pump to the reservoir should be no less than 25mm
- Windmill should be set clear of trees and buildings
- Can be set up directly above the bore or on a side draft
- Frost protection: the pump can be set up below ground in a pit, or covered or protected in another way
Note:
If the water level is between 7.5m and 31m, a Deepwell pump is required with the specification as follows:
- K 47 cast iron compensating head with glandless top
- L 103 deep well cylinder
- For a deep well application, you will need to set up the windmill and pump directly above your bore
